How to save videos, GIFs and Spaces from X (Twitter)

Last updated 19 October 2026

PocketClip saves the videos and GIFs in public posts on X, formerly Twitter, and the recordings of public Spaces. Links from both x.com and twitter.com work.

Under the post, tap the Share icon, then Copy link. On a computer, open the post and copy the address from the address bar.

Post links look like https://x.com/name/status/1234567890123456789. Links that end in /video/1, or carry extras such as ?s=20, work as they are.

2. Paste it into PocketClip

Open the X (Twitter) downloader, paste the link and tap Download. The home page recognizes X links too.

3. Pick a quality

X stores each video in several sizes. You’ll usually see options up to 720p or 1080p, and sometimes 4K for videos uploaded in high resolution.

A higher quality looks better on a big screen but makes a bigger file. For sending in a chat, 720p is plenty; for editing, choose the highest.

If a post has more than one video, each is listed separately, and Download all as ZIP saves them together in one file.

GIFs

When someone posts a GIF on X, X turns it into a short MP4 video. That’s what you download: an MP4 file that plays in any video player. If you need an actual .gif file, a GIF converter app or website can turn the MP4 back into one.

Spaces

A Space’s link looks like https://x.com/i/spaces/1eaKbrQbjoRKX. Paste it like a post link, or the link to a post that shares the Space, and PocketClip saves the recording as one MP3 or M4A audio file, about 45 MB for each hour. The guide to downloading a Twitter Space has the details.

Only Spaces that have ended and that their host recorded can be saved. Live and upcoming Spaces can’t, and a video Space gives you its audio only.

Saving to your phone

Downloads go to your Downloads folder: in the Files app on iPhone, or in Files by Google and your Gallery on Android. On iPhone, open the video in Files, tap Share, then Save Video to add it to Photos. The TikTok guide walks through each device step by step.

If it doesn’t work

The guide to why a video won’t download explains each message.

Before you save

Only save videos you made yourself or have permission to use. Saving a video doesn’t give you the right to repost it.
