About Instagram photos

Not a screenshot
Each download is the image file Instagram serves, so there are no buttons, likes or caption over it, and none of the blur a screenshot adds.
Up to 20 slides
Instagram carousels hold up to 20 photos and videos. Download all as ZIP takes every one of them in a single file, numbered by their place in the post.
Captions and tags
The caption, comments and tagged names aren't part of the photo file. Copy the caption from the app if you want to keep it.
A link to any slide
A link copied from the third slide of a carousel ends in ?img_index=3. Paste it as it is: you get the whole post, with every slide listed.

Questions

What size are the photos?

The largest size Instagram offers, usually 1080 pixels wide, as JPEG files.

Can I download a whole carousel?

Yes. Every photo and video in the carousel is listed in order, and Download all as ZIP saves them in one file.

Can I download Instagram stories or profile pictures?

Not stories: Instagram only shows them to people who are logged in, and we never log in. Profile pictures aren't supported either.

Why does the photo open instead of downloading?

Instagram sends photos from its own servers, so your browser opens them like any other image. Press and hold the photo, or right-click it on a computer, and choose to save it. The steps below cover each device.

Do I need an Instagram account?

No. Photos in public posts download without an Instagram account, and PocketClip never asks for your login.

Is it OK to save someone else's photos?

Only save photos you posted yourself or have the creator's permission to use. Saving a photo doesn't give you the right to repost it.
