Privacy policy
Last updated 7 October 2026
PocketClip was built to work with as little information about you as possible. This policy explains what it handles, why, and for how long.
What we collect
- The links you paste. We use a link to find the post and its download options. We keep the post's address and its download details (title, author, file links) for up to 10 minutes, and the address a share link leads to for up to 24 hours, so repeat requests are fast. None of this is linked to you.
- Your IP address. We use it only to limit how many requests each visitor can make per minute and per day. The counters expire at the end of each minute or day, so after 24 hours at most. For IPv6 addresses we use the network part of the address, not the whole address.
- Server logs. Our logs record the kind of request, its result, its size and how long it took. They don't record your IP address or the link you pasted. Logs about fetching a post include that post's public address. Older logs are deleted automatically as new ones replace them.
We don't store videos. Some downloads pass through our server on their way to you; they are streamed, not saved, and the links for them stop working within 15 minutes.
Cookies
We don't set cookies, and we don't use analytics or tracking tools. If we add advertising, ad partners may use cookies. We'll update this policy before that happens and, in the EU and UK, ask for your consent first.
Other services involved
- TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter) and Snapchat. Video thumbnails, and some downloads, load directly from these platforms' servers, which receive your IP address and browser details under their own privacy policies.
- Hetzner Online GmbH hosts our servers in Germany, in the European Union.
Legal basis
If you are in the EU or UK, we process this information because of our legitimate interests in providing the service you ask for and in keeping it available by preventing abuse.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete information about you, or object to how we use it, and you can complain to your data protection authority. Because we don't keep information that identifies you beyond the limits above, there is usually nothing to provide, but you can contact us at any time.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
