How to download a Twitter Space as MP3 or M4A
Last updated 22 October 2026
PocketClip saves the recording of a public Space on X, formerly Twitter, as one audio file: M4A, the audio exactly as X recorded it, or MP3. It works for any Space that has ended and that its host recorded, however long it ran. There’s nothing to install and no account to create.
1. Copy the Space’s link
- From a post: if someone shared the Space in a post, copy the post’s link. Tap Share under the post, then Copy link. PocketClip finds the Space from the post.
- From the Space itself: open the Space, tap Share, then Copy link. Space links look like
https://x.com/i/spaces/1eaKbrQbjoRKX.
Links from x.com and twitter.com both work, with or without extras such as ?s=20 at the end.
2. Paste it into PocketClip
Open the Twitter Spaces downloader, paste the link and tap Download. After a second or two you’ll see the Space’s title, its host and how long it ran. The X downloader and the home page recognize Space links too.
3. Choose MP3 or M4A
- M4A is the audio exactly as X recorded it. It starts downloading straight away, and plays on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows.
- MP3 plays on everything, including older players and car stereos, and is what many podcast and editing apps expect. PocketClip converts it as it downloads, which takes about a minute for each hour of the Space.
Both come to about 45 MB for each hour of the Space. The file is put together as it downloads, so your browser may not show how big it will be until it’s done. On a phone, use Wi-Fi for long Spaces if you can.
A video Space gives you its audio, in either format. The video itself isn’t downloaded.
4. Find it on your device
- iPhone and iPad: the file goes to the Downloads folder in the Files app. Tap it to play it, or tap Share to open it in another app, such as a podcast player.
- Android: it’s in your Downloads folder. Open it in Files by Google, or in any music or podcast app.
- Computer: it’s in your Downloads folder, and plays in your browser or in apps such as VLC, Music and Windows Media Player.
If it doesn’t work
- “That Space is still live” means it hasn’t ended. Leave the page open: we look again every few minutes, and the download options appear as soon as it ends, if the host is recording it.
- “That Space hasn’t started yet” means it’s scheduled for later. Come back once it’s over.
- “That Space has no recording to download” means it ended without one: the host didn’t record it, or has turned off its replay. X only keeps a recording when the host turns recording on.
- “We couldn’t find that post” means the Space, or the post that shared it, was deleted, or that X only shows it to people who are logged in.
The guide to why a video won’t download explains every message.
Before you save
Only save Spaces you hosted, or that the speakers have agreed to let you keep, and ask before sharing a recording of someone else’s conversation. Saving a Space doesn’t give you the right to republish it.
